On the evening of February 6th 2012, hundreds of future Fateless Ones from all over the country converged in the Baltimore, Boston, and Tempe areas to celebrate the launch of Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning™. We had an amazing turnout at all three Reckoning Midnight Launch Events. Read on for all the details!
In Baltimore, the Reckoning team from Big Huge Games was out in force and even set up a parking lot barbecue, complete with hot dogs and Reckoning cupcakes. We had a great turnout and some guests who drove in all the way from other states, such as Reckoning community forum regulars Gunmoku, Karysma, and Ravenlock. We kicked off the evening with Reckoning trivia, and gave away goodies including posters and t-shirts. Inside, Grant Kirkhope, Ian Frazier, Joe Quadara, Ken Rolston, Mike Fridley, and Tim Coman met with fans, chatted, and signed autographs. Each proud new Reckoning owner who exited the Baltimore GameStop was met with an eruption of cheers, applause, and something extra special…a little cowbell.
The 38 Studios crew in Providence pulled out all the stops at the Boston Reckoning Midnight Launch. Many of the Copernicus team was in attendance, and they entertained eager fans with trivia, t-shirt giveaways, and Destiny Cards for everyone. Curt Schilling and R. A. Salvatore mingled with fans before the event started, then signed everything from baseballs to books to posters (and copies Reckoning, of course!) as they talked with each and every guest who came through the line. As fans left the store with their new copy of Reckoning in-hand, they were showered with excited cheering and high-fives from the 38 Studios team.
The Tempe Midnight Launch Event had a fantastic turnout—over 150 excited fans showed up to meet Todd McFarlane and pick up their copy of Reckoning. Todd even treated a few fans to some of his famous sketches. Everyone had a great time and couldn’t wait to dive into Reckoning. One especially enthusiastic fan even said he took off work Tuesday so he could start playing as soon as he got home. Another drove more than two hours just to attend the event. Now that’s dedication!
We want to give a big thanks to everyone who came out to see us. You helped make the Reckoning launch a truly memorable celebration for us all. Here are a few images from the Reckoning Midnight Launch Events. (Click on the thumbnails to see the full gallery!)
